Spoke N Motion Dance was co-founded in 2012 by Teri Westerman Wagner and Robyn Gisbert.
The troupe celebrates a passion for music and movement in a diverse population of dancers with
and without disabilities in a unique, creative art form called Integrated Dance.
Teri has been dancing since age 11. She completed 3 years of training with The Dancing Wheels Company and School in Cleveland, OH. Teri is a company dancer with Ballet Arts Theater and Berthoud Dance Company and has enjoyed dancing on stages throughout metro Denver and public school programs that help to bring understanding of people with disabilities. She has also been a competitive Wheelchair Ballroom Dancer having a 4th place International standing and a 1st place State standing in Colorado.
Robyn is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who is committed to movement as medicine for people of all ages and health conditions. Her clinical practice focuses on using dance as an adjunct to traditional physical therapy for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD). She teaches Neuroscience for the University of Colorado and Zumba fitness at local dance studios. She has studied dance with Colorado legends Karen Lee and Gwen Bowen, and recently with the Mark Morris Dance Group-Dance for PD Program.
Not only have Teri and Robyn established a place for persons of all abilities to share their love of dance, they’ve also set the stage to educate the community about how far the disabilities rights movement has come, and what the future might hold. The dancers, their friends, families and the troupe’s ever-growing audiences all celebrate the joy of realizing their potential.
Uniting the talents of dancers with and without disabilities the troupe is comprised of youth through seniors, with and without vision, wheelchair bound and able-bodied, individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury, some with Parkinson's or autism who all share the LOVE of dance!
